The great moment is for an artist to express his feelings through different mediums. As I said my plan is to write short stories. While I was working on my writing. I was wondering, the family and society I belong to. Do they allow my freedom of expression? Do we really care about freedom of expression? Then I have looked on the internet especially the world press freedom index then surprisingly I have realized there are so many developed and rich countries they are in a lower rank. So, why is the clash between power and speech?
According to the Universal Declaration of Human rights from United Nations “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”
I see clearly that human society is struggling to express in every aspect of life since they have learned how to express. Cultural Hegemony has been already said by Marx and Gramsci.
What you can say and what you can not. The way it comes, It shows that government agencies are related to the freedom of expression but unfortunately, it comes from family and friends. For example, what gender, what sexual orientation, or what is appropriate to say at home or outside all are prescribed by the family and later by the institutions. In a way, the term itself the freedom of speech is contradictory.
There is saying oppression brings a voice! Yeah, true but my point is, why do we need a voice? I am happy to consider no voice if there is no oppression but I know this is an idea of Utopia and all our life, we have to fight for dialogue to have a space of sharing our thoughts without any oppression. To save the others who sink in the pit of the power where a beautiful sea of freedom is waiting. When I was writing my piece then I was thinking too about what could I write freely and what I need to say politically correct! Then I decided to do video installment besides writing and I am working on it...
